Have you come to the place in your spiritual life, where you know for certain that if you were to die tonight, you would go to Heaven?

Let's suppose you were to die tonight, and you were to stand before God, and he were to say to you, "Why should I let you into my Heaven," what would you say?

Your eternity depends on how you answer.

God wants you to be sure. "These things have I written...that ye may KNOW you have eternal life."(1 John 5:13)

How can you know? This is written to those who BELIEVE ON the name of the Son of God. It is there so that you can know for sure that you are saved. For "there is no other name given under Heaven whereby man must be saved."(Acts 4:12)

So... you can know for certain that you are saved. The answer that you give is vital. We are to die once, and then there is a judgment.(Acts 9:27). Nobody knows when they will die, so each of us is only one heartbeat away from death.

Thankfully, it is very easy for us to know that we can be saved. Each of us is only one sincere prayer of repentance away from eternal life.

A portion of 1 John 5:10 says, "THE WITNESS is in himself..."

Answering Question #1

Answering Question #2

So, what would you say if God asked why He should let you into heaven? One of our young people, when we were out visiting, gave an interesting answer

He guessed "please."

We praised him for a great, honest answer. He realized he didn't deserve to go there based on his own good works. None of us can be. You can only go to heaven because of what Jesus did for you when He took the punishment for your sins, dying on the cross and rising from the dead. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Rom. 3:23) None of us is perfect.

So, each of us would have to die for our own sins because our sin separates us from God.

God made this world perfect, without sin, but then "by one man sin entered the world and death by sin..." (Rom 5:12a) If you enter a room, that means you were not in that room the moment before you entered it. In the same way, the world had no sin in it. No disease, no killing, no sin. But "...death passed unto all men for that all have sinned."(Rom. 5:12b)

How do we fix that problem? By trusting in Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, who "knew no sin, yet became sin for us."(2 Cor. 5:21) He Himself "bare our sins in His body."(1 Pet. 2:24). He was "bruised for our inquity," the Lord laid on Him "the inequity of us all."(Isaiah 53:5-6) All our sins were laid on Jesus. He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day.(1 Cor. 15:3-4)

But, it's not just about knowing facts. it's heart knowledge. That's why what this boy said was crucial. We just had to explain, "please, what?" That is that "single, sincere prayer of repentance." Repentance means turning away from one's sins and agreeing with God that they deserve punishment and accepting that He took that punishment upon Himself.

It's about making it personal, for "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."(Rom. 10:13) If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you'll be saved from your sins.(Rom. 10:9) Of course, people can confess on a computer like those in remote places who visit sites like Jesus2020.com and .mobi. As Romans 10:10 goes on, one believes with the heart and that faith is what makes them whole, but you must confess to Jesus that He is Lord, and that He has the right and ability to judge and to save you. Then, you should confess to others what He has done out of gratitude, and so He won't be ashamed to confess that he saved you.. We should never be ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation.(Rom. 1:16)

So, the ABCs - Admit, Believe, Choose/Call - could have C meaning Confess, too.

You can call on Jesus right now to forgive you and save you from your sins.

For those who did this once but messed up:

Remember, God wants you to KNOW you have eternal life. So, if you mess up, you can lose blessings and rewards but you'll never lose your salvation. You are sealed with the Holy Spirit when you become His child.(John 14-16 tell a lot about the Spirit; Ephesians 1:13-14 is one of various other places.)

So, if you already trusted Jesus Christ to save you and know for sure you understood and meant it, you can pray a prayer to restore your fellowship with God. 1 John 1:9 promises, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
